About The Union
The Mining and Energy Union (Queensland District) has been representing its members since it was first established as the Queensland Colliery Employees Union, in November 1908. The Mining and Energy Union represents workers in coal mining, coal ports and power stations. Our objective is to advocate for our members and protect and enhance their terms and conditions of employment, and their health and safety in the workplace.
The Mining and Energy Union has been recognised by the Australian Council of Trade Unions as being the “principle union” for the coal Industry. This gives us the sanction of the Australian Council of Trade Unions and the Union movement of being the only Union that can cover and represent any employee in the Coal Industry.
